In addition to being an elected official for 16 years, she has served in a number of capacities, including: Silicon Valley Leadership Group Housing Leadership Council Santa Clara County Cities Association Santa Clara County Emergency Preparedness Commission West Valley Mayors and City Managers Santa Clara County Expressway Policy Advisory Board Chair, Measure A, raised $71 million for improved CUSD school facilities Founding Board Member, Operation Outreach Fremont Union High School District Foundation Advisory Board Cupertino Education Endowment Foundation Advisory Board League of California Cities Housing Leadership Committee President, Organization of Special Needs Families Board Cupertino National Little League Board Cupertino Rotary and Cupertino Chamber of Commerce Sandra retired from elected office in December of 2005 and founded her own consulting company, Sandra L. Michael has been part of the CVM Team since the beginning, contributing countless hours of support for the project, and is the Owner of Hobee’s Restaurant located just across the street from the Memorial and Senior Center.

Donna I. Axelson

Secretary

Donna Axelson has lived in Cupertino for 40 years. Both her children, Jeffrey and Matthew, went through Cupertino schools and graduated from Monta Vista High School in 1992 and 1994. Donna is an elementary school teacher with over 26 years of experience teaching grades K-7.

She received a B.A. in History from San Francisco State University and an M.A. in Educational Administration from Santa Clara University. Donna taught for 5 years in San Jose Unified School District before coming to Cupertino. Donna has taught in Cupertino since 1984. Cupertino Schools Donna has worked in include: Meyerholz, Stevens Creek (ACOT School), DeVargas, Garden Gate (Department of California Model Technology School), and Cupertino Middle School. In 1994 Donna was the Cupertino Union School District Teacher of the Year, the Santa Clara County Teacher of the Year, and she was nominated for California Teacher of the Year. Donna has also lived and taught in Poland, The Netherlands, and England (1997-2003).
